Announcing Preparatory Division: Kinder Choir and Prep Chorus

Preparatory Division: Kinder Choir and Prep Chorus

Welcome to the Bach Children’s Chorus family of Choirs!

The newly expanded Preparatory Division of the Bach Children’s Chorus includes two training programs:

A non-auditioned choir designed for children in Junior and Senior Kindergarten. Through enjoyable singing games, movement activities and repertoire, the children develop singing in their head tone, ear training with solfa syllables, and rhythmic skills. Parents are invited to a recital/demonstration on the last day of each session. This group meets for 40 minutes each week for a 10-week Fall term and a 10-week Winter/Early Spring term.

Location: Scarborough Bluffs United Church, 3739 Kingston Road
Fall term: September 9-November 25 (no class October 7 or November 11)
Winter term: January 13-April 7 (no classes on Feb 17 or Mar 10 or Mar 24)
Time: Sundays, 2:30pm-3:10pm
Cost: $200 per TERM (10-week session)

This is a choir for children in Grade 1 and up. In addition to the continued program of developing singing in their head tone, ear training, and rhythmic skills, the Preparatory Chorus becomes more fluent in the use of solfege syllables and note identification. Dalcroze Eurythmics is also incorporated into the weekly program. This is a stepping-stone group to prepare young singers for entry into the Bach Children’s Chorus Choir I. In keeping with this mandate, the Preparatory Chorus members will occasionally rehearse with Choir I and sing with the full Bach Children’s Chorus in concert at the Toronto Centre for the Arts in December and May! The Preparatory Chorus meets for 60 minutes each week from September through early December and January through mid-May.

Location: Scarborough Bluffs United Church, 3739 Kingston Road
Time: Sundays, 3:30pm-4:30pm
Schedule: Sept 9-Dec 2 (no rehearsal on Oct 7)
and Jan 6-May 5 (no rehearsal on Feb 17, Mar 10 or Apr 21)
Concert dates: Saturday, December 8 and Saturday, May 11
Cost: $580 for the full season (September through May)

Please share this information with any friends or family who may be interested. Registration will be limited, so parents should contact the BCC as early as possible to secure a spot in this group.
