The Bach Children’s Chorus announces its newest division: the Preparatory Choir. This non-auditioned choir for children in Senior Kindergarten and up will begin this Fall 2016. Through enjoyable singing games, activities and repertoire the children will be introduced to singing in their head tone and will develop ear training skills that will ready them for Choir I.
This non-performance group will meet for an hour each week for two 10-week sessions each season (September to November and January to March). Parents will be invited to a short recital/demonstration on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. and on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.
Leadership of this group will include two music teachers who have long-standing ties with the Bach Children’s Chorus, Nicole Bower and Meredith Wanstall. Nicole, a former vocal coach and assistant conductor with BCC, has completed her Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Education and continues to teach private voice as well as group music. Meredith, a current member of BCYC and a 2nd year music student at University of Toronto, has taught private voice, piano, theory and sight-singing for several years. Nicole and Meredith will work alongside Artistic Director, Linda Beaupré, to provide the children with a dynamic, creative team of instructors.
