Prep Choir

Grade 1-2

Sundays: 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm

at Scarborough Bluffs United Church

Term 1 (Fall): mid-September to mid-December

Term 2 (Winter/Spring): mid-January to mid-May

Prerequisites: No musical background is needed. Please book a meeting and vocal assessment with Artistic Director Charissa Bagan. 

Performances: In-rehearsal “Skills Showcase” performances in November and April. Participation in December and May main stage concerts with all choir levels. 

Program Description: Prep Choir is an auditioned group of singers in Grade 1 who demonstrate readiness to sing with solfege syllables (do-re-mi), match pitch, clap rhythms and sing a wide range of songs from classical to folk to pop. A range of Montessori-style music stations encourage independent exploration to complement the team-based music learning activities. Music theory and sight-reading concepts are incorporated into weekly lessons. Prep Choir also spends some rehearsals with Choir I to prepare joint repertoire for our December and May concerts. Our team of expert musician instructors are passionate about helping young people sing with joy, confidence and ease. Subject to enrollment of 15 singers.

Prep Choir tuition:

registration fee is $350* per term (pay in full by e-Transfer or cheque or request an instalment plan)

*plus $25 materials fee and fundraising per term
